Why the need for RCCAO?

The RCCAO was created with the vision of unifying the residential and civil sectors of the construction industry to effectively address issues with one common voice. Our goal is to provide real solutions to the major issues affecting the construction industry. Issue like: infrastructure, land supply and use, regulatory reform, affordable housing, and labour supply.

Until recently, legislation has attempted to provide answers to these growing areas of concern but instead it has produced more restrictions and barriers due to unrealistic solutions and methods of evaluation. In addition, much of this legislation was enacted without the sufficient input of relevant industry experts from the construction industry.

• Bill 51 - The Planning and Conservation Land Statue Law Amendment Act
• Bill 53 - The City of Toronto Act
• Bill 124 - The Building Regulatory Reform Advisory Group (BRRAG)
• Bill C-78 - The New Canadian Environmental Assessment Act

The RCCAO understands the need for balance, therefore it incorporates the existing elements of these systems that work to new and innovative models that provide real solutions. By working together with all levels of government, and stakeholders in the public and private sectors, the RCCAO provides an objective perspective to a host of issues.
